Set Your Sights on a Scenic Tour

Whether you’re after scenic nature views, close-up looks at historic landmarks, a memorable on-the-water experience, or a day spent exploring main streets and back roads, a scenic tour guided by a knowledgable local is one of the best ways to experience the peninsula and Washington Island.

4 Kinds of Tours

Boat Tours
There’s no better way to experience Door County than on a boat tour. Take a few hours to cruise along scenic shorelines, explore surrounding waters, and enjoy views of majestic bluffs, historic lighthouses, and nearby islands. Many tours offer live narration, sharing stories of local history, maritime heritage, and legendary shipwrecks along the way.

Land and Air Tours
Hop aboard a trolley tour combining food and drink with scenic vistas and historical storytelling. Or take to the skies and enjoy the views from above with a thrilling airplane tour.

Walking & Biking Tours
You can also keep it laid back with a bike tour in several different communities, a bridge walk in Sturgeon Bay or a historic walking tour through Ephraim, a picture-perfect village of historic buildings and homes.

Segway Tours
Segway tours offer a way to soak in the scenery at a different pace than a hike or a drive. These are perfect for family outings with people of varying fitness and health levels who still want to experience the fresh air.

4 Fascinating Tour Destinations

Bluffs, Caves, & Shorelines
Door County’s famously rocky shoreline is a big part of the peninsula’s ecological makeup and are best viewed by boat or kayak. Several boat tours offer bluff- and cave-specific scenic tours, by both motorized boat and by kayak.

Lighthouses
These iconic landmarks are not only great places for photo ops but are reminders of the region’s maritime past and present. Door County lighthouses are best viewed from the water but many of them also offer walking tours of the grounds.

Shipwrecks
While they aren’t visible from land, shipwrecks are a big part of the ‘scenery’ of Door County. The only way to see local shipwrecks is by guided boat or kayak tour.

Wineries
Door County is home to many wineries and even a cidery, each with its own unique style and flavor. Take a trolley tour to experience the Door County Wine Trail and learn how different wineries craft their product.
