It’s a Sign: Your Zodiac Winter Playbook to Door County

Your perfect winter activity is in the stars. Based on your horoscope, here’s a list of things we think you’ll enjoy in Door County — both indoors and out.

Aries — March 21 - April 19

Your bold, daring, and independent personality means seeking out unusual activities this time of year. Stock up on outdoor gear at Bay Shore Outfitters, then relish in the quiet solitude of rustic winter camping at Sturgeon Bay's Potawatomi State Park. Move inside for axe-throwing competitions at Door County Sandbox. No one will be surprised when you're the last one standing.

Taurus — April 20 - May 20

You enjoy relaxing, unwinding, and indulging in the finer things in life, which means a bougie weekend with a friend or significant other. Book an elegant room at Eagle Harbor Inn and a massage at The SPA at Sacred Grounds in Ephraim; then take a horse-drawn sleigh ride from Lautenbach's Market, Winery & Cider Co. in Fish Creek with Mayberry's Carriages.

Gemini — May 21 - June 20

Geminis are known as curious, creative thinkers. Watch a variety of performances at Northern Sky Theater in Fish Creek and Rogue Theater or Third Avenue Playworks in Sturgeon Bay; also in Sturgeon Bay is The Gnoshery, where you can eat, drink, and choose from more than 100 unique board games from the café's library and store. For an outdoor adventure that'll challenge your mind, try geocaching, "the world's largest treasure hunt."

Cancer — June 21 - July 22

You’re most comfortable on or near the water, so this winter season, try your hand at ice fishing or cross Death’s Door via a Washington Island Ferry Line icebreaker ferry. For those looking to stay inside, explore 10 floors of exhibits at the Door County Maritime Museum in Sturgeon Bay to learn how water has played an important role in the livelihoods of Door County residents.

Leo — July 23 - August 22

Your generous spirit will find you at Door County's quaint shops, searching for the perfect holiday gift, or spending part of your getaway volunteering at a nonprofit. Your energetic personality and leadership mean you have no qualms about leading a group of friends to snowmobile or mountain bike along Peninsula State Park's trails.

Virgo — August 23 - September 22

Put down that calendar, Virgo; let someone else plan your day for once. Door County Trolley, based in Egg Harbor, offers food-focused tours featuring wine, cocktails, cheese, and chocolate, as well as an all-ages scenic tour. Join park naturalists at The Ridges Sanctuary in Baileys Harbor, who lead guided hikes and snowshoe excursions.

Libra — September 23 - October 22

Your love of beauty and balance craves a creative project or two. Take a class at the Peninsula School of Art in Fish Creek or be inspired by rotating exhibits and a permanent display of Wisconsin art at the Miller Art Museum in Sturgeon Bay. At night, stargaze at Ellison Bay's Newport State Park, the only Dark Sky Park in Wisconsin.

Scorpio — October 23 - November 21

Vintage, thrifted, consigned; however you say it, you're a sucker for nostalgia. Peruse Door County's antique shops, then play a round at Sister Bay Bowl; you'll be keeping score by hand, just like in the old days. Relive your childhood by sledding down Hill 17 at Peninsula State Park in Fish Creek or at the Sister Bay Sports Complex.

Sagittarius — November 22 - December 21

The explorer in you knows winter doesn’t mean sitting at home. Get out to discover new-to-you activities such as kicksledding, a cross between skiing and sledding, where one person sits on a chair sled, and the other kicks the ground to push and propel the chair. Sturgeon Bay's Door County Historical Museum and Archives appeals to curious minds who prefer an indoor setting.

Capricorn — December 22 - January 19

Your practical side appreciates Crossroads at Big Creek’s complimentary snowshoes and cross-country skis for exploring the 220-acre nature preserve and binoculars for birding, plus a learning center where you can warm up and learn about the region’s distinct ecosystems. A five-minute drive west leads to a wealth of dining options in downtown Sturgeon Bay.

Aquarius — January 20 - February 18

Find gifts, crafts, live music, and food at two community gatherings, Christkindlmarkt in Sister Bay and the Baileys Harbor Winter Markets, which speak to your warmhearted, earthy nature. Create your own soy candle, or hand-dip a taper candle, at the Candle Bar inside Door County Candle Company in Carlsville—a one-of-a-kind experience and keepsake.

Pisces — February 19 - March 20

As the life of the party, you'll make new friends during unusual trivia and bingo nights at Cherry Lanes Arcade Bar and Stone Harbor Resort, both in Sturgeon Bay, or Sway Brewing + Blending in Baileys Harbor. Bring the gang to Fish Creek's boisterous Winterfest, featuring quirky games, like toilet-seat tossing, or the New Year's Day Polar Bear Swim in Jacksonport.
