2,400 acre wilderness area offering hiking, swimming, fishing, backpack camping, ski touring,
snowshoeing. Eleven miles of Lake Michigan shoreline, 30 miles of hiking trails. Newport State
Park offers backpack camping for visitors. All campsites are hike-in and supplies must be carried
into and out of campsites. Newport has 16 backpack (hike-in) campsites, 13 of which can be reserved.
