Visitor Economy Continues to Boom in Door County, Generating Record Economic Impact of $685.8M in 2025

June 9, 2026, Door County, WI.Door County’s visitor economy continued its booming growth in 2025, generating a record $685.8 million in total economic impact and further solidifying tourism’s role as a major driver of the county’s economy, workforce, and quality of life.

According to newly released data from global research firm Tourism Economics, Door County saw a $34.6 million increase in total economic activity over the previous year, a 5.3% increase, reflecting the continued strength of the county’s visitor economy and the collective efforts of local businesses, organizations, and communities that make Door County a premier year-round destination.

Direct visitor spending reached $551.6 million in 2025, with an additional $134.2 million generated through indirect and induced impacts. Tourism dollars continued to fuel economic opportunities throughout the county, supporting local entrepreneurs, workers, and municipalities.

The visitor economy also supported 3,575 local jobs in 2025 and generated $131 million in labor income for Door County workers, representing increases in both categories over the previous year. In addition, visitors generated $55.7 million in state and local tax revenue, helping fund essential services and infrastructure while reducing the tax burden on residents. Tourism-generated tax revenue offset an estimated $3,717 per household that would otherwise need to be paid by Door County residents to maintain existing services.

Statewide, Wisconsin tourism is also booming, generating a record $27 billion in economic impact in 2025. The highest-ever visitation fueled the state’s record-breaking year, which surpassed the previous high of $25.8 billion set in 2024 and extends Wisconsin tourism’s record-breaking streak to four years.

As Door County looks ahead to 2026, the continued growth of its visitor economy will help drive business success, support local jobs, and generate lasting benefits for residents and communities throughout the county.
