Door County Wisconsin Named 2019 Best Fall Foliage Destination in Nationwide Competition

Fans across the U.S.A. spoke and Door County took home the top spot in the 2019 USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice travel award contest for Best Destination for Fall Foliage. Contest results were revealed September 6, 2019 at 10Best.com.

Door County, a peninsula in Wisconsin’s Northeast corner, is surrounded by Lake Michigan on three sides and offers incredible lake views matched in autumn by breathtaking fall foliage up and down its’ 300 miles of coastline. Fall festivals, apple harvests and great outdoor recreation opportunities amidst the kaleidoscope of fall colors are just some of what visitors love about the fall season in Door County.

Door County was initially chosen as one of 20 nominees from across the country for the contest by a panel of national travel experts. The top 10 winners were determined by popular vote during online voting from July 29 through August 26, and the final tally saw Door County finish in the top spot.

“We thank everyone who voted for Door County and helped us rise to the top of an amazing list of U.S. destinations,” said Jon Jarosh, Director of Communications and PR at the Door County Visitor Bureau. “Door County has such passionate fans and the authenticity of our destination and the experiences available here continue to inspire travelers of all ages,” he said.

Other destinations that finished in the top 10 included the White Mountains, Finger Lakes, Pocono Mountains, Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and the Okanagan Valley, among others.

Over the years, Door County has received many accolades as a top fall destination from places like TripAdvisorRoad and Track and Trips to Discover.
