Since 1875, this stately Greek revival farmhouse has watched over Fish Creek’s busiest crossroads, sheltering three generations of the Noble family. Cross its threshold and find yourself transported to the late 1800s, surrounded by the rich textures of Victorian mourning traditions, authentic period attire, and intriguing relics. Honored as both a National and State Historic Place, the museum brims with treasures that bring history to life. Every visit promises new discoveries and a deeper connection to the stories that shaped our community.
The silent and grim reaper, Death has again invaded our ranks, and another of the craft has been summoned to that shore from whose bourne no traveler ever returns.”
This powerful line is from Alexander Noble’s eulogy, which was found during the restoration of the Alexander Noble House in the late 1980s. Our ongoing interest in Victorian funerals, especially those for prominent figures in our town’s history, has inspired the Gibraltar Historical Association to present a special exhibit in 2026 titled “Turn Back the Veil.”
