Winter Festivals

February heats up with festivals and events from Sturgeon Bay all the way to Washington Island. The Door County Pond Hockey Tournament brings 45 teams to Kangaroo Lake on Feb. 10, then Celebrating Winter brings a week of food, fun, and entertainment to Washington Island. Finally, Fire & Ice Festival comes to Sturgeon Bay Feb. 16-18 with galas, ice carving, and fun for the whole family.

Fun in the Snow

When the snow falls there are endless opportunities for fun in the open air to cure your cabin fever.

Snowshoe in the sanctuary, rent a fat bike and devour snow-covered trails, hit the fishing hole on the lake, and bring your sled to traverse the extensive Door County Snowmobile Trail.

Or, bring your human-powered sled for a trip (or 20) down Hill 17 in Peninsula State Park.

Winter's Spectacular Light

Winter sunsets rival the best of the summer, casting a spectacular glow on the snow-swept shoreline.

Winter brings views you can't see in the summer, and a chance to hike onto the lake for a new view.
