Opening Reception: Stories + Senses: Reflections in Nature
- Francis Hardy Center for the Arts
- Ephraim, WI 54211
Stories + Senses: Reflections in Nature features three artists all working in our region: Mary Ellen Sisulak (Ellison Bay), Naomi Moes Jenkins (Egg Harbor/De Pere), and Marilyn Prescott (Appleton). These artists are all engaged in a process of translating what they see in their immediate environments. The surfaces of Prescotts abstract paintings are rich with references to her walks along the Fox River. They are paintings that reward slow, close viewing. The materiality of many of Naomis sculptures seem to be pulled right out of Prescotts paintings and create a sense of entering into a world of mythology. Sisulaks work, created from materials ranging from leather to water-soluble encaustic, fills the viewer with the sense of magic and mystery present when you spend time deep in the forest. On Exhibit: August 29th-October 11th.
