Sister Bay Stories - More Than Just an Orchard: The Carlson Family and Wildwood Market

  • Corner of the Past/Old Anderson House Museum
  • Sister Bay, WI 54234

In the mid-1800s, Adolf Carlson raised cattle on the land that is now a cherry orchard owned by his great-grandson Mark Carlson and wife Mary Pat. The building for their business, the Wildwood Market, once served as housing for cherry pickers, including German POWs. Mark and Mary Pat will tell the Carlson family story, including Mary Pat’s pioneering work in helping establish shared-use kitchens like the one at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College.
