Traditional Belgian Galettes

Belgian gallettes on a cooling rack


1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
2 cups whole milk
1 teaspoon vanilla 1 teaspoon cinnamon 4 cups flour 1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda


Cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla and mix well. Add dry ingredients and mix until blended. Grease waffle griddle with lard. Bake in hot Belgian waffle iron until golden brown. Serve with hot whole milk poured over the waffles.
