Summer is here and vacations have started. With the busy season upon us, the county has geared up for the influx of people by offering an extensive list of fun activities for all interests. Hit up one of the many festivals, try your hand at a race, or meander around a sidewalk sale with the family. The possibilities are endless and Door County is here to provide fun for everyone.
Door Community Auditorium, Fish Creek
Jill Heinerth, cave diver and explorer in residence for the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, will give a keynote address as part of the 2019 Celebrate Water Summit. The address is free and open to the public. Donations are appreciated.

Boat excursions and guided land-based tours to all 11 historic Door County lighthouses giving visitors access to lighthouses that aren’t typically open to the public, including Chambers Island, Plum Island and Sherwood Point lighthouses. Call or visit dcmm.org for tickets or more information.

Crossroads at Big Creek, Sturgeon Bay
The 10th annual Crossroads Trail Run/walk, 10K, 5K, and 2K Fun run. This chip-timed event is for all ages, levels of runners and walkers, and a great family event. Come as a solo participant or bring your whole family. Visit crossroadsrun.com for more information and to register.

Sunset Park, Sturgeon Bay
12pm. VIP event begins with access to general tasting area at 12:30pm. 1pm. General admission begins. New location, different weekend, better layout, lots of fun. Waterfront Park, Sister Bay
Check out the newest kayaks and stand-up paddleboards. Demonstrations and free use of kayaks and paddleboards provided by Bay Shore Outfitters. With SUP yoga (9:15-10am), group kayak paddle (9-10am). Learn how to play disc golf or participate in the tournament. Some fees and reservations required for paddle events.

July 4 in Fish Creek: Celebrate Independence Day with the annual Hairpin Run, a 5k walk/run.
July 4 in Gills Rock: Travel north for an evening of food and refreshments (5pm), live music (6-9pm), a boat regatta (7pm), and fireworks (dusk).
July 4 on Washington Island: Enjoy the annual Fire Department pancake breakfast (7-10am) with fireworks at dusk.
July 4 in Maplewood: Drive down to the Baumann Ball Park and grab a spot for fireworks at dusk. Refreshments will be for sale.
July 6 on Rock Island: Friends of Rock Island State Park host their annual cookout. Food, merchandise, and a silent auction will be held to help raise funds for park projects.
July 13 in Sister Bay: Featuring a brat fry with the Sister Bay Lions Club, a bungy trampoline, inflatables, walk-on water balls, refreshments, and more. Fireworks start at dusk. For more information visit cometosisterbay.com.
