New Year Events in Door County
Happy New Year! Winter has settled in on the county, but the residents are anything but settled. This is the time of year when skis, snowshoes, and sleds are taken out of their summer storage and brought to the county's snowy hills and trails for some winter fun. Festivals in winter are all about celebrating creative ways to have fun during the cold months.
Downtown Egg Harbor
Wrap up in your warmest gear and head out to Egg Harbor for its annual New Year’s Day parade. This informal, goofy parade rings in the new year with food and warm drinks! There is no formal registration to participate. Visit www.eggharbordoorcounty.org for more information.
Lakeside Park, Jacksonport
Start your new year with this annual chilly event. Go in your bathing suit or dress up in your favorite costume—just make sure to bring towels, blankets, warm clothes, and anything else you might need to warm up afterward. Registration opens at 10:30 a.m., and the plunge starts at 12 p.m.
Peninsula State Park, Weborg Shelter
Start the new year by getting outdoors with a family-friendly 1–3 mile trek, and warm up with a cup of cocoa afterwards. This is a free event, but a state park vehicle sticker is required. No pets allowed.
Newport State Park, Nature Center
Enjoy a 3-mile hike to start off the new year. Snow shoes are permitted, and poles and/or walking sticks are encouraged. Post-hike cider and hot chocolate provided. This is a free event, but a state park vehicle sticker is required.

All day residents and nonresidents can fish without a license in all the waters of Wisconsin (except for spring trout ponds). All other fishing regulations still apply.
Whitefish Dunes State Park
Join the Friends of Whitefish Dunes State Park and enjoy this annual winter candlelight event. Separate trails available for skiers and hikers. The shelter features a warming fire along with hot beverages, popcorn, and baked goods. Please leave your pet at home. This event is free, but a state park vehicle sticker is required.
Clark Park, Fish Creek
Find creative ways to have fun and keep warm at this popular winter festival featuring wacky winter-themed carnival games for all ages, ice sculptures, music, raffles, a chili cook-off, food, beverages, and more. Visit visitfishcreek.com for more information.
Peninsula State Park
Ski or hike a one-mile loop with hundreds of lit candles lining the trail. After enjoying the candle-lined trails, warm up by the bonfire and partake in refreshments at the warming shelter. No pets allowed. Weather permitting. This is a free even, but a park vehicle sticker is required.
Southern Door Auditorium, Brussels
Featuring women from the Door County area, the pageant will have a panel of judges will decide who will be crowned Miss Door County and Miss Door County Outstanding Teen.
Clark Park, Fish Creek
This scenic half-mile fun run/walk through downtown Fish Creek will begin and end at the tent in Clark Park. Don’t miss the post-race breakfast of Fruit Loops! Part of the Fish Creek Winter Festival activities.
Kangaroo Lake, Baileys Harbor
Sixty teams compete on Kangaroo Lake for the coveted Stanley Thermos. The tournament features a warming tent, food and beverages, and an open rink on the ice for those looking to join the players on the ice. For more information and to register visit doorcountypondhockey.com.
