This performance features rising stars Ezra Calvino and Thomas Nettle as part of the Karen Smuda Emerging Conductor Program, providing a unique look at the next generation of orchestral leadership. The program tracks the musical journey from the Classical era to the fiery spirit of Romanticism, opening with the vibrant energy of Mendelssohn’s Sinfonia No. 10. The evening includes Haydn’s famous "Farewell" Symphony, a theatrical masterpiece where musicians exit the stage one by one during the finale, and concludes with the raw power and rhythmic humor of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2. This concert offers a rare opportunity to witness elite emerging talent directing a world-class professional orchestra in an intimate setting.
