Scandinavian Sounds Saturday, August 8, 2026 7:30?PM - 9:30?PM The Peninsula Music Festival presents Scandinavian Sounds on Saturday, August 8, at 7:30 PM at the Door Community Auditorium in Fish Creek. This program highlights the virtuosity of the festival's own principal musicians, featuring Principal Trumpet Mark Hughes and English Hornist Leanna Renfro as soloists. The all-Nordic repertoire takes listeners through the atmospheric landscapes of Northern Europe, beginning with the festive energy of Svendsen’s Norwegian Artists’ Carnival. The evening includes Sibelius’s haunting The Swan of Tuonela, Lars-Erik Larsson’s lyrical Trumpet Concertino, and concludes with Carl Nielsen’s Symphony No. 2 ("The Four Temperaments"). Inspired by a village inn painting, Nielsen’s masterpiece musically depicts four distinct human personalities: the angry, the lazy, the sad, and the happy. This performance is one of nine unique concerts taking place at the Door Community Auditorium in Fish Creek from August 4 through August 22, 2026. The Peninsula Music Festival is Door County’s International Philharmonic Orchestra, led by world-renowned Music Director Rune Bergmann. These concerts bring together an international symphony orchestra in a powerful, immersive experience featuring world-class soloists, massive symphonies, and elite choral ensembles.
