Peninsula Music Festival: String Serenades

String Serenades Thursday, August 6, 2026 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM Grammy Award-winning violinist James Ehnes returns to the Peninsula Music Festival on Thursday, August 6, at 7:30 PM at the Door Community Auditorium in Fish Creek with String Serenades. This performance features Ehnes in a rare “Play/Lead” role, where he serves as both the featured soloist and conductor, leading the orchestra directly from his legendary “Marsick” Stradivarius of 1715. The program focuses on the lush and romantic repertoire of the string orchestra. The evening opens with Elgar’s elegant Serenade for Strings, followed by Mozart’s witty Violin Concerto No. 4. The concert concludes with Dvo??k’s sun-drenched Serenade for Strings, a staple of the repertoire known for its folk-inspired melodies. As this is Ehnes’s second and final appearance during the 2026 festival, it offers a final opportunity to see the two-time Grammy winner in an intimate setting. This performance is one of nine unique concerts taking place at the Door Community Auditorium in Fish Creek from August 4 through August 22, 2026.
