Summary

The non-profit organization, Friends of Plum and Pilot Islands invite you to come and walk on the wild side by chartering a guided tour with NorDoor Cruises by The Shoreline. Plum Island is home to a pair of nesting eagles, deer, mice, (harmless) snakes, a thriving little brown bat colony, and an abundance of bird life. On days that the US Fish & Wildlife or volunteers are on the island visitors can climb the rear range light and gaze out over Death's Door. View the shipwreck, Grape Shot located on the northern side of the island. The island is open to the public from Memorial Day to Labor Day, daylight hours only. Pilot Island is set aside as a bird sanctuary where Pelicans, Cormorants, Gulls and other colonial birds nest. Pilot Island is not open to the public. The Friends of Plum and Pilot Islands own the Shoreline charter boat, which comfortably seats 14 guests. She is docked at The Shoreline Resort Marina and offers educational and historic tours around Plum and Pilot Islands and other northern islands. Profits earned by this service help to fund our historic preservation and restoration projects.
