Award Winning Destination Door County “Art in the Door” Contest is Back
Door County - March 6, 2024 - Destination Door County’s (DDC) is thrilled to announce the return of the award winning “Art in the Door” contest for its second consecutive year. The contest invites artists to showcase their talents while highlighting the beauty and feeling that Door County evokes.
The “Art in the Door” contests is seeking 2D artwork submissions based on a specific feeling that Door County inspires. These feelings include, Thrill, Tranquil, Charmed, Enchanted, and Awe. Pieces submitted should capture the essence of the word as illustrated by the landscape, people, and ambiance of Door County.
The winners will each receive a $2,000 payment for the original piece and inclusion in Door County marketing throughout the year.
New to this year’s contest is the expanded eligibility, which now includes Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Minnesota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, and South Dakota.
Submissions are accepted until 11:59 PM CST on April 22, 2024, on DoorCounty.com/artinthedoor. A panel of discerning judges will select eight finalists. Four winners will be selected through a public vote.
Destination Door County's "Art in the Door" contest has garnered significant acclaim, having received the Wisconsin Tourism Trailblazer Award in November 2023 for "Outstanding Marketing Campaign under $25,000." Additionally, the contest was honored with a bronze Adrian Award in 2024 for "Digital-Contest/Sweepstake" in its budget range. Currently, the contest is also a nominee for the Arts, Culture & Heritage Award at the Wisconsin Governor’s Conference on Tourism happening March 12.
