6 Signature Cocktails for Your Door County Wedding

Cherries, apples, ice cream, wine ... Door County has been known to inspire a few famous cocktails that might be the perfect signature drink for your wedding. Here are a few new drinks that you might add to your mix (or enjoy at home while you dream of Door County). Signature drinks have long been a tradition for special events like St. Patrick's Day (think green beer), and it has become a popular occurrence at weddings and special events. Brides and grooms may choose a signature wedding cocktail for a number of reasons. The selection may reflect their personal tastes or share a bit of the local color. It may help spread the theme and color throughout the room, matching the reception décor. It could be used as a cost savings measure, offering a signature drink in lieu of an entire bar. Or couples are also choosing a signature drink designed especially for them as a way to make a public event more private and intimate between the newlyweds. My husband and I were able to go out for a night on the town in Sturgeon Bay and enjoyed a few signature drink contenders while enjoying the Door County nightlife. Our first stop was the Inn at Cedar Crossing where we talked with a couple who was just married at the Green Bay courthouse. They had come up to Sturgeon Bay for the night to celebrate their marriage. When asked why they happened to choose Door County they said it was a nice, short trip, but felt worlds away. Ingredients:

• 2 oz. Absolut • 1/2 oz. Fresh Cherry Juice • Splash of Triple Sec

Directions:

Shake and pour into a chilled martini glass and garnish with fresh Door County cherries.

Cherry Wine Cooler

Ingredients:

• 1 oz. Cherry Juice • 1 Sugar Packet • Splash of Sour • Splash of Lime Juice • White Wine

Directions:

Fill soda glass with ice. Add the above ingredients and fill with white whine (house or designated). Garnish with lime and Door County cherries on a pick.

Insider Thoughts:

This could be a very dangerous drink!! It tastes so good that even the most shy among your wedding party would be jumping up on the dance floor, or it would be a perfect summer bridal shower beverage. It goes down very easily.

After finishing our drinks at the Inn, we headed over to Stone Harbor Resort & Pub. They had a nice crowd for a Friday night in winter. With chatter of the guests and basketball playing on the big screens, we sat down to an enjoyable hour with the bartenders and a few friends. We heard about the great music that they put on each weekend (even in the winter) and how there's always a great crowd of locals and tourists alike enjoying the bands. Our bartender, Mara, was a lot of fun and poured us amazing drink after amazing drink. It was hard to pick a favorite! So, after you read — and try a few — let me know which one you prefer. It has a commanding view of the Steel Street Bridge with a panoramic view of the waterfront. During the summer, their tiki bar and waterfront patio makes a lovely spot to take in DC nightlife.

• 1 and 1/2 oz. Jeremiah Sweet Tea Vodka • Splash of tart Door County Cherry Juice • Lemonade

Directions:

Fill glass with ice. Add the above ingredients and fill with lemonade. Garnish with cherries and lemon wedge.

After having all the sweet drinks, I wasn't expecting the tea flavor to be so strong. But after a few sips, I could see how this is a favorite at the bar. It just tastes like summer!!

Ingredients:

• 3 oz. Skyy Cherry Vodka • 1 oz. Triple Sec • Splash of Cherry Delite Cherry Juice

Directions:

Shake and pour into a chilled martini glass and garnish with fresh Door County cherries.

A very smooth martini. So good that my husband stole it away from me. LOL

Ingredients:

• Splash of Door County Cherry Juice • Sparkling Wine

Directions:

Add a splash of Door County Cherry Juice to a glass full of sparkling wine, and garnish with a twist of lemon.

Insider Thoughts:

I love lemon. And the twist on the top of this drink made it go down all the easier. I could see this being a very popular drink for the girls as they get their hair and makeup done on the morning of the wedding.

Royal Chocolate Raspberry

Ingredients:

• 1 oz. Chambord • 1 oz. Godiva Chocolate Liqeur • 1 oz. Baileys Irish Cream • Ice Cream

Directions:

Add ingredients to a blender. Garnish with chocolate sauce and whip cream.

Who doesn't love a good ice cream drink?! And this one would be a great way to celebrate. It was the perfect end to a great night of taste testing.
