I took a drive through Sister Bay
this week and encountered a wonderful surprise. I knew there were a lot of changes in store for the village, but I hadn't realized that one of them was so far along.
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, the newest addition to the Sister Bay community, the Pavillion in Waterfront Park
Sister Bay's newest waterfront addition!
Funded by an anonymous donor, the pavillion will serve as a community gathering place will be the home to Sister Bay's Concerts in the Park
series, which runs in the village each summer. The series offers a mix of local and regional musical acts. Previously, this series was held in the gazebo a few blocks north of the current location of the pavillion.
The gazebo was a pretty sweet set up, and the view couldn't be beat, but the new pavillion has modern lighting, sound, and screen systems, with which the charm of the gazebo cannot compete! Also, with the orientation of the new pavillion, concert goers can enjoy the view without looking directly into the setting sun.
The pavillion will have its debut in a big way this week, when it hosts its first act, regional geggae stars, Unity
. Unity, a 2010 and 2011 Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) winner for best reggae/world/ska music band of the year, Unity is a guaranteed great time. The timeline couldn't have worked out any more ideally, as Unity is the perfect band to initiate the new pavillion, and will benefit greatly from the technical upgrades of the facility.
Next time you are in Sister Bay
, stop by and take a look at the new pavillion and the entire Waterfront Park area. And if you are in Sister Bay this Wednesday evening around 7 PM
, come on out and enjoy this new space and move your body to some award winning reggae music
