1. Bat watching – Come to Welcker’s Point in Peninsula State Park twenty minutes after sundown to see hundreds of bats fly from their roost to feast on mosquitoes.
- Nature Center Activities – Hikes, nature crafts, outdoor skills workshops and more are scheduled throughout the year at several park nature centers, including Peninsula State Park, Potawatomi State Park and Whitefish Dunes State Park.
- Geocaching – “Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS co-ordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location.” (http://www.geocaching.com for more info and sites)
- Northern Sky Theater – An award winning professional troupe performs original music tales on a stage surrounded by pine trees in Peninsula State Park.
5. Universe in the Park –
The Astronomy Department of UW, Madison travels to the State Parks throughout Wisconsin to give talks and present slideshows, answering questions and letting the general.
