The Shoreline in Gill’s Rock…

One thing we never miss is heading up to Gill's Rock to eat at The Shoreline Restaurant.  It is located right on the water and run by the Mead family.  They are famous for good food, particularly their fish and they have a great view of the water. Normally, I am not a huge fan of wind but seeing it whip up waves is amazing... october 2013 002The bar had seats so we got a drink and decided to wait for a table by the window.  It was a lazy Sunday afternoon so we had time.  I took this of a random couple sitting by the window... october 2013 004

WOW!  The Shoreline also has a great view of the sunsets...

They have a really nice hand selected wine list and a great selection of beer and spirits.

I am not sure why we even looked at the menus because the cast of characters I was with always orders the same thing.  It goes something like this- Crab Melt...

october 2013 009This is always a huge hit it's super good. It's topped with Swiss Cheese and Guacamole. Someone always orders the Jamaican Jerk Whitefish Sandwich...

october 2013 011A Smoked Whitefish Wrap...

october 2013 007And last but certainly not least a Lake Whitefish Sandwich with a cup of Whitefish Chowder.  Now if that doesn't say Door County I don't know what does.  On rye bread no less...

october 2013 010october 2013 005Did you notice a pattern?  Yes, we all ordered fish.  That is in no way to diminish how great all of their food is but sometimes gals and guys can all agree on one thing and this day it was fish.

Dinner at the Shoreline is always a delight.  They obviously have tons of fish including Salmon, Walleye and Perch but they also have great chicken, pastas and steaks. They offer great nightly specials as well. Their desserts are homemade including Mary Mead's Key Lime Pie which we also ordered... (I like to call it Mile High Pie).

october 2013 012Now THAT'S what I am talking about!  (PS... real Key Lime Pie isn't a funky green color.)

If you haven't eaten at The Shoreline, make you you put it on your Don't Miss This list.  It's that good.

Next up?  More love from Gills Rock!
