Tucked away on Sturgeon Bay's west side at 59 East Oak Street sits Kitty O'Reilly's Irish Pub. Amy and Buster Crook bought the former Stein tavern and promptly started renovations. With a lot of elbow grease, the now gleaming pub serves up food with an Irish flare. The Crooks also added an outdoor patio a couple of years ago and in addition to serving food and drinks outside, in the summer months they have entertainment.
The L-shaped bar has over sized bar stools and a few high bar tables. The dining room has a lofty feel with it's exposed red brick. The pub gives off a Cheers kind of vibe... you know, where "everybody knows your name".
But the food! The food is great and so is the service. The menu offers tons of Irish fare including Irish eggs, corned beef and cabbage, Bangers and Mash, Rueben and Rachel sandwiches and their award winning black beer chili. They also have an extensive burger and appetizer menu. I am a huge fan of the Bloody Mary so I know a good one when I taste one and Kitty's is not only good... but a meal in itself...
And of course they offer Irish beer...Guinness, Kilkenny, Smithwicks and Harp. Kitty's also pours half and half pints... Black and Blue (Blue Moon and Guinness) or a Snakebite (Strong Bow and Harp) are among the choices. They have a large beer menu... wine, not so much but hey, it's an IRISH pub! Kitty's was also voted "Best Happy Hour". And for St. Patrick's Day, Kitty's is THE place to be.
Amy went to high school with our daughter Nellie and they remain good friends.
Check out Kitty's, great food, nice atmosphere and pretty girls... can't ask for more than that now can you?
