A family affair…

I'm just putting it out there... we are good friends with the Geitner family.  They own and operate Mr. G's Logan Creek Grille so I may seem biased but I assure you I am not.

Well, maybe a little. Bob and Mary Geitner have owned and operated the restaurant and in fact they bought restaurant from Bob's parents in 1981. Mary was formerly a Special Education teacher at Gibraltar Area Schools. That's what she was doing when I first met her. They have four sons and a daughter all who grew up in the business and still help from time to time now.  This is Mary, me and Mary and Bob's son Mark when we were in there for dinner last week... mr. g's 018 An obvious choice for me were the award winning ribs (notice the banner)... truly falling off the bone and delish. mr. g's award winning ribs Oh yeah... that good. But we started out with soup.  I had the stuffed green pepper (which I hadn't had before) and loved and Mark ordered the beer-cheese chowder.  That was really good too as I sampled some of Mark's.  Mark ordered Chicken Oscar which he loved... mr. g's 013 I could probably use a lesson or two in food photography.  Besides the baked potatoes for our side,  the dinners were also served with a two beans pasta salad.  Friends or not, the food was amazing.  The menu is varied with everything from sandwiches to steaks, delicious pastas and tons of fish. It's Door County, fish is a must. Mary is also known for her King and Queen cut Prime Rib a favorite of my family's. We are also huge fans of their Friday night fish fry (perch for me).  Get there early (or late) they draw a large local crowd. Our long time friend Bonnie was our server.  Her twin boys, one of Bob and Mary's boys and our daughter Nellie grew up together from kindergarten through high school.  Nellie and the twins even went to college together and are all still good friends to this day.  It was nice catching up with her as well. During the week early in the season they don't offer their soup/salad bar but that's another favorite of ours. We like to eat in the bar when it's not busy but during the season we also like to eat in the sun room...

Mr. G's also has a ballroom where they host wedding receptions, parties and bands.  My husband and I had our wedding reception there as did our son and his wife and many, many of our friends.  They have two bars in the ballroom and can seat up to 400 people. Yes, we have been to many, many weddings with that many people.  I.love.it. This is the Broadway Bar in the ballroom... The newest addition to Mr. G's Logan Creek Grille is their Tiki Bar... another favorite of  mine. During the summer on nice nights and weekends they open the Tiki Bar which is down on Logan Creek which is just steps from the restaurant. Listen to tropical music while enjoying a cocktail and at night hang out by the campfire or look for fish in the creek.003 I took this picture of Bob and Jerry Voelker last summer.  They also offer outside weddings for the smaller affair with the Tiki bar made available for the wedding party and their guests.

The Geitner clan does a phenomenal job whether it's a large wedding, small party, dinner or just drinks at the Tiki Bar. And they are pretty easy on the eyes... am I right?Mr. G's Logan Creek Grille is located just south of Jacksonport on Highway 57.
