Exceptional cabin & stay
The cabin was very clean and nicely decorated. Loved the Door County emphasis. The kitchen was well appointed and had some beautiful carvings on the cabinet doors. There were many carvings throughout. The remodel is well done. The beds were very comfortable. It was so quiet and only a short walk to the water. We enjoyed a visit from a family of deer on our last evening. The owners do a great job of taking care of the cabin. I would highly recommend this cabin!

About the host

Host profile image
This property has been in the family for many, many years. The original owner/builder was my parents, Gilbert & Marian Laessig.. My dad was a mason and thus, the red brick on the exterior. The house was purchased by my brother, Bob in the 80's, who then added on a large addition. Bob was an artist and musician. The hand carved kitchen cabinets and the hand painted pictures on the walls are samples of his artistic talent. Bob passed away in 2018, and now my wife and I own the house and have spent months remodeling the interior. My wife and I take great pride in doing all the interior and exterior maintenance and all the housekeeping ourselves, so there's no management company to deal with. You will feel the TLC throoughout this home.

Why they chose this property

Location is great...walking distance to boat launch, Sherwood Point Lighthouse, Sherwood Point Bar & Grill, and fantastic sunrises & sunsets. Only 2 miles from Idlewild 18 hole golf course and only 3 miles from Potawatomi State Park. Enjoy all the hustle & bustle of all the attractions in Door County and come back in the evening to the peace and quiet of the country.

Cleanliness is our promise: All counter tops, door knobs, door/drawer handles, bathrooms, etc. are thoroughly sanitized after every guest. Bedding and linens are washed using an added laundry sanitizing agent. Visitors love watching all the wildlife. You will often see deer walking through the property.

What makes this property unique

No outside management firm is involved in the care and cleaning of Uncle Bob's house. Owners take great pride in the upkeep and cleanliness of Uncle Bob's House. If you have any issues or concerns, owners respond immediately with a resolution.
