Thenell's Cottage

We really enjoyed this rustic cabin during our fall weekend getaway. Being right in the water, we enjoyed the sound of waves hitting the shore. It was cool weather but the fireplace was great..we brought plenty of firewood and it kept us cozy. It was wonderful to sit outside and watch the sunset right in front of the cabin. Was just what we were looking for and would definitely come back again.

Our family with two college teen girls stayed at Thenell Cottage as a last bit of summer hurrah. The rustic nature and peace of the gentle waves that lulled us to sleep in the evening and eased us into mornings was just what we needed as a family to recharge. We spent many nights out by the bonfire on the shoreline taking in the beautiful sunsets. This humble home was perfect for our family with close proximity to all of the great harbor towns, hiking and restaurants.

Cute little cottage right on the water with natural fireplace (a must for us) and fire pit. Off the beaten path but only about 10 minutes from Sturgeon Bay. Excellent bar/grill right at the end of the long driveway into the property.

Beautiful cottage in a peaceful location. It was a perfect relaxing getaway and would definitely return in the future.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Location on the water was amazing. We spent everynight at the fire pit looking at the stars!

What a beautiful and peaceful property. We loved the cabin and being right on the lake. The cabin had everything we needed! We can't wait to go back. It felt like home ♥♥

We really appreciated the staff being so responsive to our questions. The representation on-line was very accurate---not like other sites that present the place as something other than what it is; a guest is often surprised. The cottage is very charming and the location is wonderful. We hope that the shoreline is maintained. We know that the water has been rising and many beaches are disappearing. Also, some landscaping help may be needed, we noticed. There is a bush by the chimney that is dying because weeds are overcoming it, growing right next to it. And a couple dead trees that may be a problem. The interior decor is perfect for this type of cottage. 5 stars!

We enjoyed our stay at the cottage. I like the improvements that have done to update and use the space of the cottage better. Opening the ceiling above the main room created a inviting living space as you opened the front door. The rewiring of the electrical and lighting was nice too. We've been going the the cottage for over 15 years. We know how much John & Donna cared for their cottage and we're happy to see someone take care of the place we love to visit and create family memories. We look forward to continuing our yearly stay at our wonderful spot by the Bay!

We spent three nights at the cottage in July and enjoyed our stay on the whole. We rented a kayak in town on our way in and dropped it off on our way out. We had great views and enjoyed some kayak rides and wading and floating around in the water. The water was calm some times and did have some waves when it was windy. I recommend bringing water shoes for the rocky bottom. Neighbors were visible on one side as they did some fishing and boating, but you have a good bit of separation around your own yard, fire pit and beach area. The actual cottage has no AC so it was certainly warm inside. It is tight quarters (especially the loft) and old so we focused on grilling and simple meals instead of using the kitchen too much. The toilet had some flushing issues while we were there, too. Overall the trip was about getting away and it was good for that.
