The sun is out. School will soon be too. And now it’s time to get out of town for a fun weekend with the family. Luckily, the perfect destination is not too far away. So pack your bags, load up the car, and make your way to Door County where a weekend of fun, relaxation and quality time with the family awaits.
Families love to spend their summers frequenting the County’s active beaches, splashing in the lake, stopping for ice cream, and racing to the tops of observation towers and lighthouses. To top it off, there are plenty of activities and events with free admission to keep your family entertained throughout the trip. No matter what your family is into, our 19 unique communities have activities and scenery for all ages to enjoy.
After all that activity, you’ll need a place to rest your head. Sleep under the stars with your family in one of the area’s scenic campgrounds, or at one of the numerous family-friendly accommodations. Groups large and small can rest comfortably in a cottage, hotel, resort or cabin. Even your pets can join in on the getaway with pet-friendly lodging options and restaurants.
Our Local DC Kid Insider also recommends bringing your family out to enjoy the trails in our state and county parks. There you can rent kayaks, bikes, paddleboards and so much more to enjoy a day out in nature. Plus there are beaches and ice cream stops to enjoy in some of the parks as well. Read what our insider had to say about it here.
Don’t forget to stop by the Door County Visitor Bureau in Sturgeon Bay for a complementary visitor guide. There’s also a packet for the little ones to keep them entertained while getting around to all that our County has to offer. Start planning your unforgettable vacation and get ready for some family fun this summer.
