When the County is covered in a fresh blanket of snow, not only does it offer some pretty incredible sites, but also and abundance of outdoor fun. Here are some of our favorite activities to do when the snow falls, and a glance at upcoming winter festivals you'll want to plans to attend.
For many locals and visitors alike, cross-country skiing is a favorite winter activity. Go out on an adventure of your own and see our parks in a new way this winter by skiing the Door. Peninsula State Park, Newport State Park, Whitefish Dunes State Park, and Potawatomi State Park all offer miles of ski trails. You can also ski groomed trails at Crossroads at Big Creek.

Bring your sleds and enjoy 250 miles of groomed snowmobile trails. Get updated trail conditions and download a snowmobile trail map.
Treat yourself and a loved one to a special getaway. Through March, dozens of resorts, B&B's, and hotels are offering romance packages with cozy lodging, scrumptious food and romantic extras.

Test out your sled, ATV, dirt bike or anything with a motor in drag races, radar runs and time trials on the north side of Kangaroo Lake in Baileys Harbor. Live music, snow volleyball, and bonfire. Hot food and snow bar outside of Coyote Roadhouse. Free to attend. $5/machine to race.
Feb. 3 - 5, 2017
In its 30th year, Winter Festival continues to entertain locals and visitors with games, food and drink, and a crowd ready to have fun in the snow! Enjoy family-friendly games, music, food and a festive atmosphere under the large heated tent overlooking the frozen waters of Green Bay. Partake in the kickball tournament on the harbor, the chili cook-off, minnow racing, a bike toss, candlelight skiing, a Stumpf Fiddle Contest, Fruit Loop fun run and more!
Feb. 11-18, 2017
A week-long celebration of ice and snow with food, fun, adventure and entertainment at the biggest of the winter Door County festivals. Sample chili entries for $5 at the annual Chili Cook Off, enter a photo contest, or register with the Lions Club to participate in the Fishing Derby and more! You’ll also find local food specials, bake sales, live music, Island Players performances, and a “surprize” event!
Feb. 18 – 19, 2017
Stroll around town or climb aboard the Door County Trolley for a complimentary tour of the community. Witness novice, intermediate, advanced and professional carvers transform blocks of snow and ice into works of art. On Saturday evening, check out the annual Fire & Ice Dinner, Dance and Auction at Stone Harbor Resort with live music.
