Fish Creek Winter Festival

Fish Creek
Feb. 3 - 5, 2017

In its 30th year, Winter Festival continues to entertain locals and visitors with games, food and drink, and a crowd ready to have fun in the snow! Enjoy family-friendly games, music, food and a festive atmosphere under the large heated tent overlooking the frozen waters of Green Bay. Partake in the kickball tournament on the harbor, the chili cook-off, minnow racing, a bike toss, candlelight skiing, a Stumpf Fiddle Contest, Fruit Loop fun run and more!

Get Some Local Perspective

Feb. 3 and 9

February offers several chances to earn about life in Door County with stories from the locals who live it. On Feb. 3, The Door County Women’s Fund presents “Tales of Our Lives,” a story slam in which eight storytellers share true, personal stories from their lives. On Feb. 9, a keynote panel of Door County restaurant celebrities convenes to share their stories of life in the food-service industry in a Door County Reads event.

Winter Wine and Cherry Fest

Orchard Country Winery, Fish Creek
Feb. 4

Enjoy complimentary wine and farm market food tastings, paint your own wine glass, horse-drawn sleigh rides, warm apple cider, mulled wines, and an outdoor cherry pit spit competition, plus live music by Ben Larsen. Dress warm!

Candlelight Ski  

Peninsula State Park
Feb. 4

Enjoy a one-mile loop with hundreds of lit candles lining the trail, then join friends at the bonfire for cookies and cider afterward. Participants will enjoy a candlelight hike if trail conditions don't allow skiing.

 

Door County Pond Hockey Tournament

Kangaroo Lake, Baileys Harbor
Feb. 4

Head out to the lake, grab a beverage and food off the grill, and take in the action as 40 teams compete for the Stanley Thermos in the 4th annual Door County Pond Hockey Tournament.

 

Celebrating Winter on Washington Island

Washington Island
Feb. 11-18, 2017

A week-long celebration of ice and snow with food, fun, adventure and entertainment at the biggest of the winter Door County festivals. Sample chili entries for $5 at the annual Chili Cook Off, enter a photo contest, or register with the Lions Club to participate in the Fishing Derby and more! You’ll also find local food specials, bake sales, live music, Island Players performances, and a “surprize” event!

Sturgeon Bay Fire & Ice Festival

Feb. 18 – 19, 2017

Stroll around town or climb aboard the Door County Trolley for a complimentary tour of the community.  Witness novice, intermediate, advanced and professional carvers transform blocks of snow and ice into works of art.  On Saturday evening, check out the annual Fire & Ice Dinner, Dance and Auction at Stone Harbor Resort with live music.

Love on Holiday

Feb. 10 and 11

In celebration of Valentine’s Day, the Holiday Music Motel presents a week-long songwriting and recording session that culminates in a series of performances of newly written songs about love and love gone away.

Candlelight Ski

Newport State Park, Ellison Bay
Feb. 11

Experience Newport State Park in a new way on a one-mile trail lit by homemade candles. Apres ski, enjoy hot cocoa and cookies in the picnic shelter.

 

A Day of Musical Performance

Feb. 11
Ellison Bay and Egg Harbor

Two of Door County’s most renowned musical performance groups offer events Feb. 11. At Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church in Ellison Bay at 2 pm, the Peninsula Music Festival presents February Fest, featuring pianist Andrew Armstrong. Later that evening, Birch Creek Music Performance Center presents Valentine’s Club Jazz, featuring the Birch Creek Trio of Reggie Thomas, Rick Haydon, and Mark Urness.

Door County Short Film Festival

Film screenings for the public Friday evening and all day Saturday.

Cross-country Skiing

For many locals and visitors alike, cross-country skiing is a favorite winter activity. Go out on an adventure of your own and see our parks in a new way this winter by skiing the Door. Peninsula State Park, Newport State Park, Whitefish Dunes State Park, and Potawatomi State Park all offer miles of ski trails. You can also ski groomed trails at Crossroads at Big Creek.

Snowshoeing

Door County's five state parks, plus dozens of county parks and conservation lands make this a great place to step into your snowshoes for a winter trek. View the Winter Guide for information on snowshoeing the Ridges Sanctuary, and more winter activities.

Snowmobiling

Bring your sleds and enjoy 250 miles of groomed snowmobile trails. Get updated trail conditions and download a snowmobile trail map.
