American Masterworks Tuesday, August 4, 2026 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM Grammy-winning violinist James Ehnes kicks off the Peninsula Music Festival’s 2026 season on Tuesday, August 4, at 7:30 PM at Door Community Auditorium in Fish Creek with American Masterworks. This all-American program features two-time Grammy Award winner James Ehnes, a world-renowned violinist performing on the legendary “Marsick” Stradivarius of 1715. The evening highlights the diverse range of American music, beginning with the jazzy, urban energy of Leonard Bernstein’s Three Dance Episodes from On the Town. The program also includes the percussive power of Joan Tower’s Tambor and Samuel Barber’s Violin Concerto, Op. 14, a cornerstone of the repertoire known for its heart-wrenching melodies and technical virtuosity. This opening night event offers a rare opportunity to see a global icon in an intimate Door County setting. This performance is one of nine unique concerts taking place at the Door Community Auditorium in Fish Creek from August 4 through August 22, 2026. The Peninsula Music Festival is Door County’s International Philharmonic Orchestra, led by world-renowned Music Director Rune Bergmann.
