Since November 17, 2016, Door County’s tourism industry has been taking part in the Wisconsin Department of Tourism’s “Big Bundle Up” donation campaign. The statewide campaign collects new and gently used coats, scarves, hats, mittens, and other warm clothing items. All items donated locally will be distributed throughout the county.

The Door County Visitor Bureau (DCVB) with help from the Baileys Harbor Community Association, Carlsville Business Association, Egg Harbor Business Association, Fish Creek Civic Association, Jacksonport Information Center, Sister Bay Advancement Association, and the Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center have seen tremendous support from the community.

“The Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center has experienced an outpouring of holiday spirit and generosity for this year’s “Big Bundle Up” Campaign. A talented elf has once again donated hand knit hats and scarves to help people stay warm this winter, “says Pam Seiler, Executive Director of the SBVC.

From hand knit hats and scarves in Sturgeon Bay to brand new coats in Sister Bay, the spirit of giving is strong in Door County. “A generous soul purchased 5 brand new coats to donate, her thinking ‘something new might be nice,’” said Chris Milligan, Sister Bay Advancement Association Coordinator. “Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant and Blue Heron Glass Etching also reached out wanting to help collect.”

Collecting will continue until January 2, 2017. Questions about Door County’s participation in the Big Bundle Up campaign can be directed to Jen Rogers at the DCVB, 920-818-1134 or jen@doorcounty.com

The Door County Visitor Bureau is the official tourism marketing organization for Door County, whose mission is to generate incremental economic impact for the community by attracting visitors with strategies that ensure sustainable tourism.
