Scrimshanders
Scrimshaw is a truly indigenous American folk art that began with native peoples but which has a more recent, vibrant history in our nations storied 19th century whaling traditions. This unique art, engraving on ivories, is kept alive in Door County by resident Scrimshander Gary Kiracofe, whose talent maintains and expands on scrimshaw history by offering exclusive, one-of-a-kind collectibles and heirlooms.
