Quilters Group Tour Itinerary

Day 1

10:00 AM  Arrive in beautiful Door County and start your journey by taking the back roads through Southern Door and view over a dozen barn quilts. This “clothes line of quilts” was painted and designed by FFA members and alumni, volunteers and local quilt guild members to educate on the art and history of quilting while highlighting the architecture and historical significance of barns throughout Door County. 

11:30 AM  Lunch. Stop at one of the many scrumptious restaurants around the peninsula. 

12:30 AM  Take a scenic boat tour or trolley ride and get inspired for your next project.

3:00 PM  Check into one of the many hotels, homes, cottages or B&Bs that have the perfect set up for a quilters retreat. Many are equipped with small or large meeting spaces, cozy common areas and sleeping rooms equipped with full kitchens, dining rooms, and living room spaces with fireplaces. 

5:00 PM  Find out what all the hype is about and take part in an authentic Door County fish boil. 

7:00 PM  See a show! Visit one of nearly a dozen performing art venues that where you're guaranteed to be entertained and delighted.


Day 2

8:00 AM  Breakfast at the hotel or out and about. 

9:00 AM  Start the morning off with some SHOPPING! There are hundreds of artists, galleries, and shops around the peninsula.  Be sure to stop at Barn Door Quilt Shop in Sturgeon Bay for any tools or material you may need. Also, Jacksonport Cottage - Gallery & Gifts boasts dozens of handmade crafts and Amish Quilts.

11:00 AM  Take a tour of a lighthouse.  Door County boast 11 historic lighthouses and both Eagle Bluff Lighthouse in Peninsula State Park and Cana Island Lighthouse in Baileys Harbor are open for groups to enjoy. 

12:30 PM  Lunch. Stop at one of the many scrumptious restaurants around the peninsula. 

1:30 PM  No tour of Door County is complete without a tour and tasting of at least one of its award-winning wineries. Tour one or tour them all; they each have something unique to offer every visitor.  

3:00 PM  Spend the afternoon mingling with other quilters sharing techniques and ideas or an afternoon to yourself working on your latest creation. 

6:00 PM  Dinner at one of the many restaurants around the county. 

7:00 PM  Show off your creative style at Hands On Art Studio. Paint your own ceramics, glassware, t-shirts, and birdhouses. Spin-paint a canvas. Experiment with fused glass and lampworking. Make a mosaic. Weld a metal sculpture or create silver jewelry with precious metal clay. 


Day 3

8:00 AM  Breakfast at the hotel or out on the town. 

10:00 AM  Depart for home or stay a few more days to enjoy everything Door County has to offer.
