Door County's best kept beauty secrets are often found on the backroads. Here is one of several great 'sundae' drives. This drive will meander past scenic rural vistas in the center of the peninsula, along the shoreline of Lake Michigan and Green Bay and past two state parks and one of Door County's most photographed county parks.

Door County Sundae Drive Activities
- Drive with lunch and ice cream stops - half day or more, depending on time spent at parks along the route
- Pick up a picnic lunch at one of many restaurants or delis that offer carry out - 15 minutes
- Stop during the drive to enjoy your picnic - 30 to 60 minutes
- End your drive with a Sundae as you enjoy the waters of Eagle Harbor - 45 to 90 minutes (depends on how mesmerizing the waters of Green Bay are and it's a great spot to end the day and enjoy a breathtaking sunset.

Originating in Baileys Harbor
Fill your cooler with ice and soft drinks and stop at the Harbor Market on County Trunk F, just two blocks west of Hwy 57 or Custards Last Stan Deli on Hwy 57 in Baileys Harbor and pick up deli sandwiches.
Drive south on Hwy 57 to Country Trunk E. Turn west (right) on Cty E and continue west across the Kangaroo Lake causeway to the stop sign. Turn south (left) at the stop sign and travel to Fairview Road, turn right on Fairview and travel to the end of the road. At the end of Fairview Road is Memorial Drive. Turn south (left) on Memorial and continue to the end. At County Trunk V turn east (left) and continue into the Town of Jacksonport. County Trunk V will end at Hwy 57 in Jacksonport. Turn south (right) on Hwy 57 and drive to the south end of the town (less than a mile) and turn east (left) on Cave Point Road. Take Cave Point Road to Cave Point County Park. Here's is one of the most picturesque spots in Door County. Get out the camera because Cave Point County Park always makes for great photos. Here's your picnic stop too!
After lunch continue on Cave Point Drive to County Trunk WD, which will wind through part of Whitefish Dunes State Park. You will need a state park car sticker if you wish to park and walk around Whitefish Dunes State Park. Continue on County WD/Clark Lake Rd, cross Hwy 57 and continue west to Brauer Rd. Turn south (left) on Brauer Rd and travel a short distance to Whitefish Bay Road. Turn west (right) on Whitefish Bay Road and continue to the end of the road at County Trunk B. At County Trunk B turn north (right) and continue on County Trunk B until it becomes County Trunk G, continue traveling north on County Trunk G to the Village of Egg Harbor. Just before the intersection of County Trunk G and Hwy 42 is the road to the Village dock, turn left (west) toward the dock and then turn north (right) on White Cliff Road. Take White Cliff Road north to Juddville Road.
At Juddville Road turn east (right) to Hwy 42. Travel a short distance on Hwy 42 to Peninsula Players Road. Turn west (left) on Peninsula Players Road and travel to Orchard Road/Gibraltar Bluff Road. Turn north (right) on Orchard Rd and continue to Cottage Row Road. Turn west (left) on Cottage Row Road, beware of the hairpin turn and continue on Cottage Row Road (made famous by Bittersweet author, LaVyrle Spencer) into Fish Creek and Hwy 42. Travel north on Hwy 42. After a short distance you will see the entrance to the Peninsula State Park, a crown jewel of Wisconsin's state parks. Well worth the cost of a state park sticker (and the sticker is good at ALL Wisconsin state parks), Peninsula State Park boasts several scenic overlooks, a beautiful shoreline drive, a golf course, Eagle Bluff Lighthouse, and American Folklore Theatre.
If you choose to venture into Peninsula State Park you likely exit just south of Ephraim at Hwy 42. Turn north (left) on Hwy 42 and enjoy scenic Eagle Harbor and the Village of Ephraim as you descend into the heart of this picturesque Village. Watch for the red & white awning of Wilson's Ice Cream Parlor. Now aren't you ready for that Sundae!
After enjoying your ice cream along the shore of Eagle Harbor drive north on Hwy 42 a short distance (just a block north of Wilson's) to County Trunnk Q. Turn east (right) on County Trunk Q and continue to Townline Road. At Townline Road turn south (right) and continue on Townline Road - it will turn into Sumac Road and then Meadow Road, just continue to follow the road to County Trunk F. At Country Trunk F turn east (left) and follow County Trunk F into Baileys Harbor - back where you began.
