Winter Activity Guide

Snow Report & Trail Conditions
For the latest winter trail conditions, visit our Door County Snow Report page. Included on that page is a list of lodging properties on or near snowmobile trails throughout the county.

Cross-Country Skiing in Door County
Enjoy our quiet forests and scenic shores as you glide along groomed trails with breathtaking scenery. Popular winter cross-country ski trails can be found at four of Door County’s state parks, including Peninsula, Potawatomi, Newport and Whitefish Dunes state parks. Crossroads at Big Creek, a nature preserve near Sturgeon Bay, also offers great cross-country skiing, as does the Cherry Hills Nordic Center near Sturgeon Bay. For a current trail report, visit our Door County Snow Report page

If you are looking to rent cross-country skis (or snow shoes), the following businesses offer rentals: Bayshore Outdoor Store in Sister Bay (920) 854-7598, Ecology Sports in Sister Bay (920) 854-5724, or Nor Door Sport & Cyclery in Fish Creek (920) 868-2275.

Snowshoeing in Door County
Experience the splendor of Door County on a winter hike through miles of stunning landscape in our state and county parks or in one of our public nature preserves. Allow the crystal-decorated shores of Newport State Park and our other state and county parks to calm your mind. Let them soothe your spirit with their pristine beauty and tranquil views of nature. The trails are spotted with wildlife, allowing you to become part of the surroundings, as snow-shrouded trees stand guard along the unbeaten paths. Our state parks alone feature more than 50 miles of trails for snowshoeing and hiking, and the Ridges Sanctuary near Baileys Harbor offers guided snow shoe hikes on Friday afternoons in January and February. Shore to shore, Door County offers a winter activities playground that will beckon you to return again and again.

Snowmobiling in Door County
Enjoy a fresh perspective on Door County by cruising our 250 miles of public and privately maintained snowmobile trails including 17 miles of trails in Peninsula State Park and eight miles of trails in Potawatomi State Park. Check out the Door County Snow Report page for current snowmobile trail conditions and links to on-line trail maps. For snowmobile rental or repair, contact Zettel Sales, Rentals & Service
