Season of Blossoms Campaign - April 12 to June 9th
We will once again be running our spring campaign this year but with a slightly different name. This year our shoulder season campaign will be called Season of Blossom, a more encompassing name that speaks to a longer period of time versus the old Festival of Blossoms. We will also be starting the campaign a couple weeks earlier this year thanks to some great feedback from past participants.
The campaign will re-invite our customers, and potential new visitors, to let them know that the Door is open and spring is a great time to make a reservation. To accomplish this, the Door County Visitor Bureau will be placing a significant media buy in April and May to promote the season and all it has to offer. A big part of our spring media message will be the packages offered by our lodging members in partnership with restaurants and attractions. This is your opportunity to promote your business on DoorCounty.com and, if you choose, be included in our free e-postcard campaign that will launch in mid April. For more information click here.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will be resurfacing the Hwy 42/57(Bayview) Bridge in Sturgeon Bay from March 4 until June 30, 2013. There is a detour route through Sturgeon Bay to reconnect to the highway in the northern part of the city. This detour will be clearly marked and easy to navigate. The detour should only add a minimum amount of time to your travel plans. If you have never stopped in Sturgeon Bay, this is a great opportunity to explore a bit during your travels. We have created a PDF map highlighting the detour route that can be downloaded here or by clicking on the image below.
Due to revised hunting rules in Door County State Parks starting in 2013, we've compiled an information packet for those looking for more information to share with visitors into a single PDF file that can be downloaded here. All pages in this document were obtained from various pages on the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources web site. We've simply taken these individual documents about each of Door County's state parks and compiled them into one document for easy viewing and disseminiation for those interested. VIEW the document.

"I would highly recommend the Travel Green Wisconsin certification process to other Door County businesses. At The Cookery, we decided to complete the certification because we felt that the application process would provide us with a useful tool to help us analyze ways in which we are already sustainable as well as new practices and initiatives that could be implemented to lessen our environmental footprint. Although you can certainly "green" your business without this certification, the application process prompts you to think of new avenues to become more sustainable and it is also unique in that it encourages you to educate your staff and customers of the certification and your initiatives. I think this education piece is particularly important because a ripple effect will hopefully be felt as employees and customers realize that some of your efforts could also be performed in their own lives." --- Courtney Skare, The Cookery Restaurant

Travel Green Wisconsin continues to make improvements to the program, with the newest being a revised and updated application. It's faster, flows more smoothly, and is available to complete online, keeping with the program's mission to reduce waste and meet membership requests. In addition, you're now able to get more from innovation points and supporting other programs with similar interests, such as UW's
Green Masters program and the DNR's Endangered Resources program.
The new application is posted online now! And don't forget, application renewals for existing members are now available online as well through our industry site.
