Midwest Living Magazine Picks
Door County No. 1, Again Door County has once again dominated the annual reader survey of Midwest
Living Magazine with top honors in four categories and second place in
a fifth category. As in 2002, Door County was cited more often than any
other tourism destination in the annual reader poll.
Respondents to the most recent survey named Door County to the top spot
as:
*Best Weekend Getaway Destination (a tie with Chicago);
*Best Place to Watch a Sunset;
*Best Place to Find a Unique Gift, an honor the magazine called "not
suprising, considering its longstanding reputation as a shopper’s
paradise."
The Reynolds House of Sturgeon Bay ranked first in the Top Three Breakfasts
At A Bed & Breakfast category. This marks the second consecutive year
that the B&B has won a top spot in the reader poll.
In the Best Place to Eat Seafood category, the Door County Fish Boil
tied for second place with Shaw’s Crab House in Chicago.
The annual reader survey results, which appear in the just-published
May/June issue of Midwest Living Magazine, include color photographs of
a Door County sunset on the water, a fish boil at the White Gull Inn in
Fish Creek. The article’s lead photo shows Conrad and Doug Wilson
of Door County building a sandcastle at Whitefish Dunes State Park beach.
Midwest Living Magazine, which has a circulation of more than 850,000,
also featured Door County in its April issue as its lead travel story.
Door County also was selected as one of two recommended Wisconsin destinations
in the 2003 Midwest Living Best of the Midwest publication.
Door County has won numerous honors over the years as a favorite of other
magazine editors and writers and their readers. In 2002, for
example, Money Magazine named Door County a Top Ten Vacation Destination
in North America.
