Midwest Living magazine featured Door County a couple different ways in their May/June 2012 issue. Journalists Karen Weir-Jimerson and Maria Duryée wrote a five-page feature article titled "A Walk in Wonderland" on the beautiful gardens of Dale & Joan Jeanquart of Sturgeon Bay. Midwest Livingmagazine’s annual Best of the Midwest Travel guide featured Door County as a destination along with an iconic local business in their popular 2012 edition. Wilson’s Restaurant and Ice Cream Parlor was included in a special soda fountains piece that was part of a larger section titled “Time-Warp Trips,” and a beautiful 1¾ page photo of Cana Island Lighthouse graced the front of the state of Wisconsin section. A separate 2-page spread on Door County was a part of the 10-page travel section on Wisconsin. The 2012 travel guide is available on newsstands through the fall of 2012.

Door County's Holiday Music Motel, located at 30 N First Avenue in Sturgeon Bay, was the subject of a feature article in the Chicago Sun-Times' Sunday April 15, 2012 travel section. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel newspaper dedicated nearly the entire front page of their travel section in the Sunday August 7, 2011 issue to Door County. The article, written by travel journalist Ellen Creager, touched on her positive experiences while on the peninsula which prompted her to exclaim "I found Door County as wholesome as a glass of milk." A very fitting expression given Wisconsin's moniker as The Dairy State.
