September 21, 2015 - Door County, WI.  While fall colors have yet to appear and snow is still likely a few months away, Door County’s new 2015-16 Official Winter Guide has arrived.

Designed as a supplement to the Door County Visitor Bureau’s (DCVB) Official Visitor Guide, the latest edition of the winter guide provides visitors with winter activity ideas, maps, winter hours for area businesses, events and more for the period of November through March.

The guide is available in hard-copy form to visitors at the Door County Welcome Center and other area visitor centers as well as a variety of county-wide businesses. It is also available as a virtual magazine online and is available at other distribution points across the state of Wisconsin.  Visitors can also order a free copy of the guide by calling 800-527-3529.

For years the DCVB had put together a winter informational booklet designed to help visitors navigate the county during a time of year when not every business in Door County is open.  After suggestions from members, the tourism organization’s former winter activity guide was expanded to a full color magazine style publication beginning with the winter 2011-12 edition and allowed member partners the opportunity to advertise.

The guide was available to visitors in the county on September 1, about a month earlier than previous years, with the goal of getting it into the hands of visitors beginning Labor Day weekend.

“We’re excited to have this convenient winter vacation planning tool available for our fall visitors,” said Jack Moneypenny, President/CEO of the DCVB.  “We hope after they look through the winter guide and see the things we offer visitors during those months, it will entice them to come back for a winter visit,” he said.

50,000 copies of the winter guide were printed this year. An online virtual version is available to read and is formatted for computers, smart phones and tablets.

The Door County Visitor Bureau is the official tourism marketing organization for Door County, whose mission is to generate incremental economic impact for the community by attracting visitors with strategies that ensure sustainable tourism.
