DOOR COUNTY PERFORMING ARTS
For those who love the performing arts, Door County offers too much to experience in one visit.

Peninsula Players has been delighting audiences since 1935 at its shoreline setting just south of Fish Creek. American Folklore Theatre offers musical theater under the stars in Peninsula State Park during the summer, and indoors with a popular fall series. From mid-July to mid-August, Door Shakespeare brings the Bard to life outdoors in the lush garden at Bjorklunden in Baileys Harbor. The Door Community Auditorium in Fish Creek features headliner entertainment year-round. Third Avenue Playhouse offers year-round plays, concerts and performances by professionals and talented locals in the heart of downtown Sturgeon Bay. There are also great community theatre companies in the county including the Isadoora Theatre Company founded in 2001 performing countywide.

Birch Creek Music Performance Center wows summer audiences with everything from classical to swing in its acoustically-perfect barn east of Egg Harbor. Midsummer's Music presents an acclaimed series of first-rate concert chamber music in special, romantic settings each June. The Peninsula Music Festival draws musicians from America's finest orchestras to perform ten concerts over three weeks in August.

Door County’s unique summer music school and concert venue opens its 33rd year in 2008. By day, music professionals from across the country teach promising young musicians ages 14-19. By night, from late June through mid-August, these same professionals take the stage in Birch Creek’s 500-seat concert barn, performing in series highlighting Symphony (June 26-June 28 and July 3-July 5), Percussion & Steel Band (July 10-July 12 and July 16-July 19), and Big Band Jazz (July 23-July 26, July 30-August 2, August 6-August 9, and August 13-August 16). Concerts begin at 8 p.m. with student prelude performances at 7:30 p.m. in the campus’ gazebo. Picnic grove available. Tickets: $27; reduced youth prices. A one-man fun-filled tribute performance featuring the music of the Baby Boomer generation. Door County’s premier performing arts organization celebrates its 57th season of presenting nine symphonic concerts in three weeks each August. Professional orchestral musicians come from all over the world to be part of this annual Music Festival. For three weeks, concert-goers can immerse themselves in classical music at the intimate state-of-the art Door Community Auditorium in Fish Creek - built as a home for the Peninsula Music Festival. Repertoire spans the baroque, classical, romantic and modern repertoires with world class soloists for each concert. Conductor Victor Yampolsky leads this dynamic orchestra in concerts that will impress the seasoned symphony attendee and charm the novice. The TPAC, a nonprofit facility, exists thanks to a generous bequest of money from the Ruth and Wilson Trueblood estate and the donation of five acres of land by Arni and Mary Richter.
